These are laid out in a mixture of sheltered gardens, mature planting, a huge open back garden, and a large paddock.

A secluded but spacious south-facing patio is the ideal spot to soak up the unforgettable views of the lagoon and sea. A barbeque area allows you to make the most of long summer evenings, while private walkways weave throughout the grounds. Everything has been beautifully maintained, and there is a timeless and tranquil sense to the place. You ll also find a bank of solar panels, and dog kennels, so your family dogs have a choice of marvellous accommodation too.

TIME/DAY: 0430 / Monday - Saturday


   Nicholas' morning exercise routine starts Monday-Saturday at 0400 when he wakes up, puts on his workout gear and has a quick smoothie at the Deck 9 Cafeteria for some energy.  He then heads towards the Marine Gym on Deck 8.  The group starts with a warm-up session and then it is off to the daily body-focused routine.

TUESDAY: Upper Body + Core + Cardio
WEDNESDAY: Upper Body + Lower Body
THURSDAY: Core + Lower Body
FRIDAY: Mok'Bara Workout + Cardio

   The workout sessions start zero-four-thirty and it lasts for two hours.  Nicholas then returns to his quarters to shower and get ready for his office hours & day.

Swim Meet, Part Two - The Competition

   The crowd in the bleachers are excited and thrilled for this swim meet to commence.  The spectators consisted of Deep Space 1 and Enterprise Personnel.  They were here for this event between Nicholas Hopkins and Evelee, the two members of the Enterprise crew.  This was strictly meant as a fun competition between friends.  With the scuttlebutt having spread the news the crowd became enough to fill the bleachers and the match was to be broadcast through the lounge/recreation areas of the respective facilities.

   The match was a Freestyle swim, so the competitors would be able to swim the best way they were comfortable with.  The two personnel would complete five laps from end-to-end and upon the completion of the final lap the winner would be determined by the person who touched the end first.    Nicholas and Evelee were both excited to do this for the sheer entertainment factor/value.  There was of course a friendly wager on which of them would win.

   The competition was held on Deck 6 of Deep Space One.  The Olympic-size Swimming Pool was 50 meters in length (164 feet), 25 meters in width (82 feet), and 2 meters in depth (6 feet).  There was the standard ten swimming lanes for “racing”.  Nicholas was assigned Lane Four and Evelee Lane Five.  The Referee for this event was Lieutenant Commander Hall, Deep Space One’s Chief of Security.  The Match was held at 1600, with the audience full of people there to cheer them on.  The Match began when Hall blew his whistle and both competitors leaped into the water from their diving platforms.  Both Nicholas and Evelee speared through the water with grace and speed.  Evelee gained some ground upon coming into her second lap.  Nicholas was able to gain ground on her shortly before e started their third lap.  Nicholas and Evelee were neck-and-neck during the full fourth lap and into the fifth lap.  Upon reaching the the three quarters mark of the fifth/final lap Nicholas pushed even further/harder and was able to beat Evelee with touching the edge of the pool and surfacing.  Nicholas was able to beat Evelee’s time by zero-point-seven seconds.

   The crowded bleachers roared with cheering onlookers and viewing spectators alike.  The sound seemed to echo throughout the entire decks.  Both Nicholas and Evelee shook hands and praised one another upon getting out of the pool.  They were quickly surrounded bather friends and LCDR Hall who congratulated them both on an amazing race.  The DS1 crew, with the assistance of the Ten-Forward Lounge Staff, put together a reception/party after wards.  All personnel were allowed to attend and celebrate the win and the competition as a whole.

( DISCLAIMER: I discussed with our amazing Author about putting this together and before I wrote it we came up with an idea on how we would decide who would win the match.  He came up with idea of rolling a D6 dice, which he had infant of him, while we were discussing this in Facebook Messenger.  The parameters were 1-3 = Evelee; 4-6 = Nicholas.  He rolled a 5, which entailed Nicholas won the Swim Race.  I felt that you all should know that I was not playing favorites to my character when I wrote this  short story.  Hope you all enjoyed it, I know I have fun writing them. )

Swim Meet, Part One - The Setup

LOCATION: Ten-Forward

STARDATE: 72216.3 (September 1, 2019 @ 18:45)

Nicholas walks into the Ten-Forward and is greeted by Guinan the bartender.
“Well help there stranger,” announced Guinan as she stood behind the bar, “how are you doing today Nicholas?”

“I am doing pretty good Guinan,” responded Nicholas as he walked towards the bar, “I was wondering if you knew where Evelee was at? I have a friendly proposal for her.  She challenged me to a Swim Meet when she found out I was Swim Meet champion during my Academy days.  Since there is a Swimming Pool on Deep Space One, so I figured we could have this friendly completion.”

As Nicholas was explaining this to Guinan, Evelee walked up with a her glass of Enaran Tarin Juice and sat down next to Nicholas with a grin a mile wide on her face.

“So you think you could take me in a Swim Match Nicholas?  I have been swimming all my life back on Techelon, and you have been out of the Academy for some time.  Not sure it would be a fair match,” replied Evelee with a grin on her face and a mischievous tone in her voice.

“I think I can handle taking you on in a Swim Meet Evelee. This should be entertaining and fun.  A friendly competition between two friends.  We might want to run this by Sam as well, since he will bring this to Captain Picard.”

“You are on Nicholas!”  Exclaimed Evelee with excitement in her voice.

“This will definitely be something the crew of both the ship and station will be talking about for a while,” replied Guinan as she refilled a patrons drink.
“You do realize one thing about this friendly swim competition,” announced a bravado inspired voice from behind Nicholas, “You will be representing the Enterprise Officers, even with it being against a fellow members of the crew.  So you do ave a lot riding on this competition Lieutenant.”
Nicholas turned around to see Commander Riker and Counselor Troi standing at the bar being served their drinks by Guinan.  The look of utter shock and awe on Nicholas’s face could have been read throughout the room.  Nicholas knew that Commander Riker had a competitive streak and he enjoyed games of Poker, but this “pressure” was definitely something Nicholas understood and thrived in ever since he was the Academy.

“You are right Commander, this friendly competition is not just for myself and Evelee,” replied Nicholas with a smirk, “It is for the entire crew and the Reputation of the Enterprise-D herself as well.  I will do my best to bring honor to the Crew.”

“So then it will happen.  A Swim Meet between you and Evelee for the entertainment and honor of the crew,” replied Commander Riker with a smirk, “I will run this by Captain Picard and Captain Saluk of DS1.  When did you want to do the Meet?”

“I was thinking as soon as possible, sir.”

“How does Tuesday at 17:00 sound to you, Lieutenant?  I will have to talk with your Department Head about getting you the time off for this event as well, but I think she would be ok with it,” slyly smirked Riker towards Deanna as she listens every word he said.
“Yes Nicholas, you can have the time off for this competition.  I can tell you I will be in the front row cheering you on,” replied Counselor Troi as she guided Riker to their table.
“Well looks like I will have to get Ten-Forward ready for a celebration for both of you, this will be a celebration in honor of the crew as a whole.”
“Well Evelee, looks like this Friendly Competition has turned into a Competition for the Honor of the Ship now.  This is going to be more fun than I thought,” responded Nicholas as he finished off his Draylaxian Whiskey, “We will have a blast doing this, and I warn you I will not go easy on you.  I plan to win after all.”
Nicholas headed out of Ten-Forward when he heard Evelee call out to him.

“What is the human saying, ‘In your dreams’”, replied Evelee with a sheepish grin on her face, “You better bring you ‘A’ Game Nicholas.  I do not plan on going easy on you in the water.”

With that Nicholas walked out of Ten-Forward.
