The level of Medical Technology that the Adamoi possess is that of Kirk-Era level technology.  This is due to the fact that the Adamoi have strong immune systems and they have the capability to fend off most viruses.  They have a General Hospital Complex for emergency medical needs and it is also used as a Medical Training Facility for those who choose to become Medical Professionals.  There are a handful of smaller Medical Clinics throughout the world.  The affects of the planet itself has a positive affect on the Adamoi’s strong immune system.

When it comes to the Psychological/Mental needs for the Adamoi people, this is quite impressive by Starfleet standards.  The Mental Health needs of the Adamoi are taken care of by trained Psychological Therapists.  The techniques they use are impressively advanced techniques to commonly used ones for Starfleet Counselors.  Some examples are The Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Family Systems Therapy, and very rare cases that involved using Hypnotherapy.  According to Phoebe the majority of the cases that require Psychological/Mental Treatment are for Adamoi youth, basically the age equivalent is to humans aged in their mid twenties.  For the Adamnoi this is a major stepping stone from adolescent into adulthood.  Every member of Adamoi society goes through this Psychological Assessment during what is called “The confirmation of Spirit”.  This is a ancient religious custom that has been of course modified over the years and incorporated into a society tradition for youth.  This process now assesses the capabilities of the youth, so that they can be guided into desired and logical positions within Adamoi society.  This can range for Diplomacy, Counseling, Agriculture, Security, etc.

The types of Psychological issues that the Adamoi experience range from different types of Phobias, Developmental Disorders (which these are few and far in-between), Behavioral Disorders, and in some very rare cases PTSD-like issues (which are caused by serious traumas).  These types of Mental issues are all taken seriously and every bit of help is rendered to the person and the family unit of the person. They use the old human adage “It takes a Village”.  Most of the Developmental & Behavioral issues are diagnosed at an early stage in a young Adamoi’s life.  Very seldom do any kinds of Mental Illnesses go undiagnosed and untreated.

Adamoi youth must go through a thorough Psychological Assessment before they start the “Career Training” for the positions within Adamoi society that they wish to contribute and flourish in.  These assessments are completed in one of the smaller Medical Complexes off of the main Hospital complex.  According to one youth, named Neville, the process of the Psychological Assessment has become some what of a Family Tradition for family units to experience this with their youth.  Finding out where a Adamoi youth wishes to contribute and flourish is a great event within a family unit. 
Phoebe asked me questions about my life on Earth, about my Starfleet Career, my family history, and even about Earth History as a whole.  I gave her a run down of my family history and my tremendous contribution to the Family Tradition of Starfleet Service.  She was very impressed by the fact that so many in my ancestry would follow in past foot steps of Exploration and Security Service.  I explained, to the best of my ability, of Earth history for Phoebe and she was amazed at how we became such a thriving society after everything we put ourselves through in the past.  She was fascinated with my description of the Kirk-era and she was very impressed by how Kirk lead Starlet in first contacts and missions as a whole. She was also intrigued by the checkered history that Earth had many years before first contact happened.  I did inform her that I would run it by Counselor Troi who would run it by the Captan if we could download the entire Earth History Database for her to review and study.  If that was possible of course. 
So all in all my very first Away Team mission onboard the Big E, that is what the ensigns are calling the Enterprise, I mean in Ancient Earths US Navy they referred to the USS Enterprise CVN-65 as “Big E”.  The nickname might actually stick honestly, since that ancient Naval Vessel is part of this Enterprise’s illustrious history after all.
Hopefully this report fills in all the bullet points that I was required to look for while I visited Techelen.  I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the planet and meeting the representatives that I did.

These are laid out in a mixture of sheltered gardens, mature planting, a huge open back garden, and a large paddock.

A secluded but spacious south-facing patio is the ideal spot to soak up the unforgettable views of the lagoon and sea. A barbeque area allows you to make the most of long summer evenings, while private walkways weave throughout the grounds. Everything has been beautifully maintained, and there is a timeless and tranquil sense to the place. You ll also find a bank of solar panels, and dog kennels, so your family dogs have a choice of marvellous accommodation too.

   Nicholas' morning exercise routine starts Monday-Saturday at 0400 when he wakes up, puts on his workout gear and has a quick smoothie at the Deck 9 Cafeteria for some energy.  He then heads towards the Marine Gym on Deck 8.  The group starts with a warm-up session and then it is off to the daily body-focused routine.

   The workout sessions start zero-four-thirty and it lasts for two hours.  Nicholas then returns to his quarters to shower and get ready for his office hours & day.

Swim Meet, Part Two - The Competition

   The crowd in the bleachers are excited and thrilled for this swim meet to commence.  The spectators consisted of Deep Space 1 and Enterprise Personnel.  They were here for this event between Nicholas Hopkins and Evelee, the two members of the Enterprise crew.  This was strictly meant as a fun competition between friends.  With the scuttlebutt having spread the news the crowd became enough to fill the bleachers and the match was to be broadcast through the lounge/recreation areas of the respective facilities.

   The match was a Freestyle swim, so the competitors would be able to swim the best way they were comfortable with.  The two personnel would complete five laps from end-to-end and upon the completion of the final lap the winner would be determined by the person who touched the end first.    Nicholas and Evelee were both excited to do this for the sheer entertainment factor/value.  There was of course a friendly wager on which of them would win.

   The competition was held on Deck 6 of Deep Space One.  The Olympic-size Swimming Pool was 50 meters in length (164 feet), 25 meters in width (82 feet), and 2 meters in depth (6 feet).  There was the standard ten swimming lanes for “racing”.  Nicholas was assigned Lane Four and Evelee Lane Five.  The Referee for this event was Lieutenant Commander Hall, Deep Space One’s Chief of Security.  The Match was held at 1600, with the audience full of people there to cheer them on.  The Match began when Hall blew his whistle and both competitors leaped into the water from their diving platforms.  Both Nicholas and Evelee speared through the water with grace and speed.  Evelee gained some ground upon coming into her second lap.  Nicholas was able to gain ground on her shortly before e started their third lap.  Nicholas and Evelee were neck-and-neck during the full fourth lap and into the fifth lap.  Upon reaching the the three quarters mark of the fifth/final lap Nicholas pushed even further/harder and was able to beat Evelee with touching the edge of the pool and surfacing.  Nicholas was able to beat Evelee’s time by zero-point-seven seconds.

   The crowded bleachers roared with cheering onlookers and viewing spectators alike.  The sound seemed to echo throughout the entire decks.  Both Nicholas and Evelee shook hands and praised one another upon getting out of the pool.  They were quickly surrounded bather friends and LCDR Hall who congratulated them both on an amazing race.  The DS1 crew, with the assistance of the Ten-Forward Lounge Staff, put together a reception/party after wards.  All personnel were allowed to attend and celebrate the win and the competition as a whole.

( DISCLAIMER: I discussed with our amazing Author about putting this together and before I wrote it we came up with an idea on how we would decide who would win the match.  He came up with idea of rolling a D6 dice, which he had infant of him, while we were discussing this in Facebook Messenger.  The parameters were 1-3 = Evelee; 4-6 = Nicholas.  He rolled a 5, which entailed Nicholas won the Swim Race.  I felt that you all should know that I was not playing favorites to my character when I wrote this  short story.  Hope you all enjoyed it, I know I have fun writing them. )

Swim Meet, Part One - The Setup

LOCATION: Ten-Forward

STARDATE: 72216.3 (September 1, 2019 @ 18:45)

Nicholas walks into the Ten-Forward and is greeted by Guinan the bartender.
“Well help there stranger,” announced Guinan as she stood behind the bar, “how are you doing today Nicholas?”

“I am doing pretty good Guinan,” responded Nicholas as he walked towards the bar, “I was wondering if you knew where Evelee was at? I have a friendly proposal for her.  She challenged me to a Swim Meet when she found out I was Swim Meet champion during my Academy days.  Since there is a Swimming Pool on Deep Space One, so I figured we could have this friendly completion.”

As Nicholas was explaining this to Guinan, Evelee walked up with a her glass of Enaran Tarin Juice and sat down next to Nicholas with a grin a mile wide on her face.

“So you think you could take me in a Swim Match Nicholas?  I have been swimming all my life back on Techelon, and you have been out of the Academy for some time.  Not sure it would be a fair match,” replied Evelee with a grin on her face and a mischievous tone in her voice.

“I think I can handle taking you on in a Swim Meet Evelee. This should be entertaining and fun.  A friendly competition between two friends.  We might want to run this by Sam as well, since he will bring this to Captain Picard.”

“You are on Nicholas!”  Exclaimed Evelee with excitement in her voice.

“This will definitely be something the crew of both the ship and station will be talking about for a while,” replied Guinan as she refilled a patrons drink.
“You do realize one thing about this friendly swim competition,” announced a bravado inspired voice from behind Nicholas, “You will be representing the Enterprise Officers, even with it being against a fellow members of the crew.  So you do ave a lot riding on this competition Lieutenant.”
Nicholas turned around to see Commander Riker and Counselor Troi standing at the bar being served their drinks by Guinan.  The look of utter shock and awe on Nicholas’s face could have been read throughout the room.  Nicholas knew that Commander Riker had a competitive streak and he enjoyed games of Poker, but this “pressure” was definitely something Nicholas understood and thrived in ever since he was the Academy.

“You are right Commander, this friendly competition is not just for myself and Evelee,” replied Nicholas with a smirk, “It is for the entire crew and the Reputation of the Enterprise-D herself as well.  I will do my best to bring honor to the Crew.”

“So then it will happen.  A Swim Meet between you and Evelee for the entertainment and honor of the crew,” replied Commander Riker with a smirk, “I will run this by Captain Picard and Captain Saluk of DS1.  When did you want to do the Meet?”

“I was thinking as soon as possible, sir.”

“How does Tuesday at 17:00 sound to you, Lieutenant?  I will have to talk with your Department Head about getting you the time off for this event as well, but I think she would be ok with it,” slyly smirked Riker towards Deanna as she listens every word he said.
“Yes Nicholas, you can have the time off for this competition.  I can tell you I will be in the front row cheering you on,” replied Counselor Troi as she guided Riker to their table.
“Well looks like I will have to get Ten-Forward ready for a celebration for both of you, this will be a celebration in honor of the crew as a whole.”
“Well Evelee, looks like this Friendly Competition has turned into a Competition for the Honor of the Ship now.  This is going to be more fun than I thought,” responded Nicholas as he finished off his Draylaxian Whiskey, “We will have a blast doing this, and I warn you I will not go easy on you.  I plan to win after all.”
Nicholas headed out of Ten-Forward when he heard Evelee call out to him.

“What is the human saying, ‘In your dreams’”, replied Evelee with a sheepish grin on her face, “You better bring you ‘A’ Game Nicholas.  I do not plan on going easy on you in the water.”

With that Nicholas walked out of Ten-Forward.

Nicholas Hopkins' Personnel History - USS Enterprise-D

Mar 2363     Nicholas transfers to the USS Enterprise-D as one of the ship's Counselors/Security Consultants/Field Medic.  (AGE:28) <March 10, 2363>
                     During the first mission to the Tellidaris Nebula, Nicholas gets acquainted with his new department and fellow Counselors.  LCDR Troi assigns Nicholas to one of the smaller offices along Counseling Row, which is the small row of private offices that are assigned to each of the Counselors to use when they are conducting Counseling Sessions with a Crew member.
Apr 2363      Nicholas visits his Aunt on Earth, while the Enterprise-D is in orbit after their first mission and in waiting for the announcement of a new Commanding Officer.
                     Nicholas returned to the ship a day before the Change of Command ceremony, which instilled Captain Jean-Luc Picard as the USS Enterprise-D's new Commanding Officer.  The ship was also ordered to the Devron System to investigate an anomaly or sorts.
May 2363     The Enterprise-D arrives at the Neutral Zone, and with some reports of "interesting situations" the ship is permitted to enter the Zone and investigate.
                       Nicholas assists the Sick-Bay staff with a Triage Unit in one of the Cargo Bays for the alarming number of reports of strange goings on with the Enterprise crew members and civilians.  The alarming reports consisted of old injuries healing themselves and people "de-aging" as well.  Even Nicholas himself noticed these aspects affecting him, when a previous scar from an injury seemed to vanish before his very eyes.
                       Somehow after the process of creating a "Static Warpshell" the Enterprise-D survive the anomaly intact.......
                       (Nicholas Hopkins was marked as KIA on May 13, 2363, when the Devron Anomaly was "dealt" with by the brave crew of the USS Enterprise-D when they sacrificed themselves to save the Universe as a whole.)
May 2364     This ship and crew emerged from the "Anti-Time Anomaly",  The Enterprise-D is heading back to Earth with the USS Excalibur along side for the journey.  Nicholas, along with the majority of the crew, is still trying to used to the fact that they were "dead" according to Starfleet Records.
                      Nicholas was able to learn some things about his past from the Crew Manifest Records, but sadly he does remember anything after November 2359, when he was serving onboard the USS Saratoga.  According to his Service record he served on the USS Gandhi prior to transferring to the USS Enterprise-D, and apparently he was model officer during his time on the Gandhi.
                      Nicholas assists his Counseling Staff with Psychological Assessments of the Crew during the travel time back to Earth.  The evaluations are varied from "I want to stay and re-learn" to "I want to leave and try to understand what I am supposed to do now".  Nicholas choose to stay onboard and renew his commitment to Starfleet.
                      Earth Orbit, Nicholas goes down to Earth to his home and he visits with his parents and husband who are waiting for him.  The entire trip was a little difficult since Nicholas did not recall Anthony, his husband, at all due to the fact that they met while he served on the Gandhi.  Anthony vows to Nicholas that he will always stand by his side, even during this memory loss.
June/Aug 2364    Nicholas is thrilled that the Enterprise is reinstated back to Active Duty and that they are hading towards their first mission.  The idea of interacting with another long-lived species fascinates Nicholas.  His quick friendship with Guinan has proven that one salient point.
                Nicholas was assigned to an Away Team to take a tour of the Medical Clinics/Psychological Assessment Facilities on Techelen.  Nicholas guide was a Adamoi female Representative named Phoebe.  Him and his team toured the Psychological Assessment facility, where they met a young Adamoi male named Neville.  Neville informed the team that going through this process was the first step to becoming an adolescent and would help them understand where they fit in Adamoi society upon "graduation" of their trade training process.
                During the preparation for the R&R visit to Techelen, Nicholas assisted in Sick bay with the standard work-ups that are needed for such an adventure to a new planet and interactions with it's society/culture.  (Being a Field Medic does help him out at times.)
Sept 2364    During the trip from Techelen to Deep Space One, Nicholas challenges Evelee (The Adamoi Representative assigned to the Enterprise-D) with a unique and fun Moral Building Event.  The Moral boosting event is a Swim Meet between the two upon arrival at DS1, since the facility has an Olympic-sized pool onboard.
                 Nicholas wins the match against Evelee and the Event itself is a grand spectacle for the Enterprise and DS1 crews alike.

May 2361    Nicholas adapts to his new position and duties very quickly he learns the ship and routine easily.
July 2361     Nicholas conducts shipwide Personnel Evaluations along with Lieutenant Commander z'Rotharh, Toraa.  LCDR zh'Rotharh is Nicholas' Department Head.
Aug 2361    Nicholas meets up with his mother when the Gandhi rendezvous with the USS Sagan (Oberth-class) during a Personnel transfer.  The Sagan also aided the Gandhi on a mission while they were both surveying the Moropa System.  The Moropa People requested Starfleet assistance in surveying and researching a newly formed proto-nebula within their star system.
Sept 2361    Nicholas bids his mother and her ship farewell after their joint three-week mission was over.  The Gandhi continues on it's survey mission of the Maxia system.
Nov 2361    Nicholas and an away team investigate a colony on Galvin V that sent a distress call for help.  The colony was attacked by Boslic Raiders.  The Gandhi was attacked while in orbit by six raiders while the away team was also attacked on the surface of Galvin V.  The away team was able to fend off and take the raiders landing party into custody.  The Gandhi destroyed two of the Raider Ships and disabled the other four.  Nicholas and his team were rescued.  The colony was secured and the Gandhi crew aided in improving the Security systems around the colony.
Dec 2361   Nicholas was awarded the Starfleet Medal of Commendation with Clusters by Captain T'Saang for his bravery in a combat situation and saving an injured officer and colonist in a fire fight.
Jan 2362    Nicholas passes his Intership Counseling Training course and becomes a Full Counselor on the Counseling/Medical Staff of the Gandhi.
Mar 2362    Nicholas meets Major Anthony Palazzo when his Starfleet Marine Unit is assigned to the Gandhi for a four month tour.  Nicholas assists with the Psychological Assessments of the forty Marines as they transition to shipboard life.  Nicholas was teamed up with Major Palazzo, as representative between the Starfleet and Marine staff for the Medical side of things, which allowed them to get to know one another better.   (AGE: 27)
May 2362    The Gandhi rendezvous with the USS Oklahoma (Ambassador-class) for a Personnel transfer from the Gandhi to the Oklahoma.  Nicholas gets a chance to visit his little brother, Samuel, who is a Helmsman on the Oklahoma.  Nicholas had not seen his brother in years.  The visit was short lived, but a good one.
Jun 2362    Nicholas and Anthony become engaged shortly before Anthony's Marine Unit leaves the Gandhi.
Sept 2362   Nicholas is promoted to Full Lieutenant, due to time in rank process.
Nov 2362   Nicholas places in a transfer request to be a Counselor onboard the soon-to-be commissioned Enterprise-D.
Dec 2362   Nicholas receives his transfer orders to be stationed on the USS Enterprise-D in March 2363, when the ship is to be launched.
Feb 2363    Nicholas requested a leave of absence to get get married.  Nicholas and Anthony are married at the Hopkins' Family Estate, with all respective family members & friends in attendance.  Nicholas and Anthony celebrate their Honeymoon on Deneva.

Feb 2359     Nicholas starts his courses for his Intership Counseling degree.  He is able to take the needed classes/assignments from his Department Head and forward the results of his grades via Comm Shuttle to Starfleet Academy & still stay onboard ship as a member of the crew.
Mar 2359     Nicholas assists in a major case on board while the ship is in orbit of M'Klex.  A M'Klexian Diplomat was murdered while on route to the Saratoga and Nicholas is assigned to the investigation.  Nicholas investigates the incident with the assistance of the local M'Klexian authorities.  The investigation concluded that a group of dissidents were at fault for the destruction of the Diplomats shuttle.  Nicholas was pivotal  in cracking the case wide open and finding the location of the dissidents who were at fault.   (AGE: 24)
Apr 2359     Nicholas is awarded the Starfleet Medal of Valor by Captain Farrell for his outstanding investigation and assistance to help bring the dissidents to justice.
Aug 2359   Nicholas takes a two week shore leave to visit his family at Earhart Station (Regula-type) since the Saratoga was on a Scientific Mapping Mission.  Nicholas visits his father and mother, they enjoyed time together during the two weeks.
Oct 2359    Nicholas and his fellow security Team members go off on a training mission for a month.
Nov 2359   Nicholas and his team return to the Saratoga after their month long training completed.  The team conducted an in-depth training mission with the Hazard Team from Parris Island Station.  This training was done to make sure the Officers were trained to deal with the Cardassian threat.
May 2360   Nicholas and his away team encounter a group of Cardassians on Solarion IV.   Nicholas is injured from the assault by the Cardassians.  They ambushed the away team  as the away team was conducting a survey of some old ruins that had remains within them.  During the ambush, and while having a disruptor blast injury in his leg, Nicholas fended off the group of Cardassians to help the rest of his team get to cover/safety.  Nicholas stopped nine Cardassians in total by himself.  The team was rescued two days later by a search & rescue team from the Saratoga.  Nicholas and one other crew member were injured and treated once back on the ship.  (AGE: 25)
Jun 2360   Nicholas is awarded the Starfleet Decoration for Gallantry by Captain Willis for his bravery during a combat situation on an away team mission, to which Nicholas as injured and still defended his position to protect the others within his team.
July 2360   Nicholas is awarded his first Starfleet Good Conduct Medal, for his good conduct during his last three years of service, by Captain Willis.
Nov 2360   Nicholas starts working with the new Ensigns on the Saratoga to train them in basic forensic skills as part of their on-boarding process.
Jan 2361    Nicholas assists the security team with drills for the Rapid Response Team.  Nicholas trains the team on Forensic Psychology Tactics.

June 2358     Nicholas saves the XO and the CMO of Avalon Station during a hostage situation.  The situation started with a freighter full of refugees who turned out to be escaped convicts.  The group of "injured" who were beamed to Sickbay took the staff hostage.  Nicholas was part of the negotiation team and he was able to talk the leader down and rescue the hostages.
Jul 2358     Nicholas is awarded the Starfleet Medal of Commendation by Captain Richards for his role in leading to a peaceful stand-down of the fugitives and release of the hostages.
Aug 2358   Nicholas starts intensive Security training with his team.
Nov 2358   Nicholas completes the intensive security training and becomes a full-fledged Security Consultant/Associate.

AUG 2353     Cadet Hopkins enters Starfleet Academy with a Major in Psychology with focuses on    Criminal/Forensic Psychology and Intership Counseling, along with a focus on Security Tactics.  He also choose a Minor in Field Medical Technician. (AGE: 18)
NOV 2353    Nicholas joins the Swim Club after a Swim Coach sees him in the pool and invites him to join the Starfleet Swim Club.
JAN 2354      Nicholas competes in his first swim meet and gets second place.  His parents were in the audience watching. (Silver, 2nd Place Medal)
MAR 2354    Nicholas joins the Track Team as a Freshman, this was not uncommon.  He did not participate in Track Meets until later on in the Semester though. (AGE: 19)
JUN 2354      Nicholas starts hist first Summer Semester and works with the local civilian San Francisco Police Department's Forensic team during the summer to get first hand experience/training.
AUG 2354     Nicholas starts his Sophomore Year at the Academy.  Nicholas is roomed with a Deltan male named Moro, who was an Engineering Major and also a Sophomore.  They became fast friends.
NOV 2354    Nicholas and Moro are both involved in a Psych Exam Drill in their Dorm, in which while working together they finish the exam the fastest. The two of them make Academy history by completing the exam in under 10 minutes.
DEC 2354    Nicholas and Moro go to Nicholas' Family Estate for Christmas Break, which for Moro was a treat since Deltans do not have a holiday like Christmas.  This was his first experience celebrating a Human Holiday and Nicholas promised it would be a treat.  During the Break they also celebrated New Years Eve.
JAN 2355   Nicholas and Moro join the Chess Team.
MAR 2355   Nicholas and Moro end up competing against one another during a Chess Tournament, and Moro beats Nicholas.  This competition does not affect their friendship.
MAY 2355  Nicholas wins a Track Meet, barely coming in First Place after a Saurian Cadet named Mokisse. (Gold, 1st Place Medal)
JUN 2355    Nicholas goes on Summer vacation after his Sophomore semester ends.  Nicholas goes to visit his Aunt in Tycho City, Luna for his Summer break.
AUG 2355    Nicholas returns to SFA as a Junior.  Due to Nicholas' grades and with recommendations from four of his Professors Nicholas is made Senior Duty Cadet for his Dorm.
SEPT 2355   Nicholas becomes Assistant Captain of the Swim Team.
NOV 2355   Nicholas meets Jeremy Richards, a fellow Junior Cadet who is on a Security Officer track while cheering for a friend at a Parrises Square Tournament.  Jeremy was the Captain of the Academy's Team.
DEC 2355  Nicholas and Jeremy spend Christmas break at Villa San Michele, Capri.
JAN 2356   Nicholas wins First Place at a Swim Meet, Jeremy was there to cheer him on as he won the Gold. (Gold, 1st Place Medal)
