Nick's Dream

Nick's Dream

I always seem to have this dream now and again - this maybe just wishful thinking on my subconscious, but it always feels so real.

The Dream:

I find myself sitting on the bridge of a Starship and in the Command Chair.  I am wearing a Command Officer Uniform, and I feel four pips on my collar.  The Bridge resembles that of a Nebula-class Starship design. (link below to show the bridge design)  There are Officers and Enlisted busy with normal operational duties and such.  At the upper right station is a Risian female Commander, which I surmise is my First Officer.  At the upper left station is an Andorian male Lieutenant Commander, which I surmise is my Chief Science Officer.  At the Helm and Ops stations are a Human Female in an Operations Uniform and a Denobulan Male in a Command Uniform, of course I can not see what Rank they are since they are facing away from me.  Behind me at the Tactical station I see, as I turn around, a Human male in an Operations Uniform with the rank of Lieutenant.  Behind the First Officer in the Engineering station is a Bolian in an Operations Uniform, I can not tell what sex they are or what rank they hold - but I suspect they are my Chief Engineering Officer.  Behind the CSCI (Chief Science Officer)  is my Comm Officer who is a Human Female in an Operations Officer.

The normal bridge operations are happening all around me.  My CSCI comes over to me and hands over a PADD. As he hands the PADD over he says "Here is the report on the Anomaly you requested Captain."  I take the PADD and review it.  It contains information on a Spatial Anomaly within the Planetary system we are in. (The name of the ship/registry number/class are also given: U.S.S. Phobos NCC-106 Nebula-class).  This Spatial Anomaly was that of a Particle Fountain anomaly.  This anomaly was a spatial opening that had gas and particles that "spit out" of an opening in space at a fixed point in a location.  This location was near the fifth planet within the system.

I always seem to wake up right when the anomaly is about to erupt, so I am not sure how it affects the fifth planet within the system.

The strange aspect of this is that I am the Commanding Officer of the Phobos, I mean I would not be opposed to maybe becoming a CO and commanding a crew.

Adamoi Report

NAME: Hopkins, Sebastian

LOCATION: Techelen

The level of Medical Technology that the Adamoi possess is that of Kirk-Era level technology.  This is due to the fact that the Adamoi have strong immune systems and they have the capability to fend off most viruses.  They have a General Hospital Complex for emergency medical needs and it is also used as a Medical Training Facility for those who choose to become Medical Professionals.  There are a handful of smaller Medical Clinics throughout the world.  The affects of the planet itself has a positive affect on the Adamoi’s strong immune system.

When it comes to the Psychological/Mental needs for the Adamoi people, this is quite impressive by Starfleet standards.  The Mental Health needs of the Adamoi are taken care of by trained Psychological Therapists.  The techniques they use are impressively advanced techniques to commonly used ones for Starfleet Counselors.  Some examples are The Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Family Systems Therapy, and very rare cases that involved using Hypnotherapy.  According to Phoebe the majority of the cases that require Psychological/Mental Treatment are for Adamoi youth, basically the age equivalent is to humans aged in their mid twenties.  For the Adamnoi this is a major stepping stone from adolescent into adulthood.  Every member of Adamoi society goes through this Psychological Assessment during what is called “The confirmation of Spirit”.  This is a ancient religious custom that has been of course modified over the years and incorporated into a society tradition for youth.  This process now assesses the capabilities of the youth, so that they can be guided into desired and logical positions within Adamoi society.  This can range for Diplomacy, Counseling, Agriculture, Security, etc.

The types of Psychological issues that the Adamoi experience range from different types of Phobias, Developmental Disorders (which these are few and far in-between), Behavioral Disorders, and in some very rare cases PTSD-like issues (which are caused by serious traumas).  These types of Mental issues are all taken seriously and every bit of help is rendered to the person and the family unit of the person. They use the old human adage “It takes a Village”.  Most of the Developmental & Behavioral issues are diagnosed at an early stage in a young Adamoi’s life.  Very seldom do any kinds of Mental Illnesses go undiagnosed and untreated.

Adamoi youth must go through a thorough Psychological Assessment before they start the “Career Training” for the positions within Adamoi society that they wish to contribute and flourish in.  These assessments are completed in one of the smaller Medical Complexes off of the main Hospital complex.  According to one youth, named Neville, the process of the Psychological Assessment has become some what of a Family Tradition for family units to experience this with their youth.  Finding out where a Adamoi youth wishes to contribute and flourish is a great event within a family unit. 
Phoebe asked me questions about my life on Earth, about my Starfleet Career, my family history, and even about Earth History as a whole.  I gave her a run down of my family history and my tremendous contribution to the Family Tradition of Starfleet Service.  She was very impressed by the fact that so many in my ancestry would follow in past foot steps of Exploration and Security Service.  I explained, to the best of my ability, of Earth history for Phoebe and she was amazed at how we became such a thriving society after everything we put ourselves through in the past.  She was fascinated with my description of the Kirk-era and she was very impressed by how Kirk lead Starlet in first contacts and missions as a whole. She was also intrigued by the checkered history that Earth had many years before first contact happened.  I did inform her that I would run it by Counselor Troi who would run it by the Captan if we could download the entire Earth History Database for her to review and study.  If that was possible of course. 
So all in all my very first Away Team mission onboard the Big E, that is what the ensigns are calling the Enterprise, I mean in Ancient Earths US Navy they referred to the USS Enterprise CVN-65 as “Big E”.  The nickname might actually stick honestly, since that ancient Naval Vessel is part of this Enterprise’s illustrious history after all.
Hopefully this report fills in all the bullet points that I was required to look for while I visited Techelen.  I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the planet and meeting the representatives that I did.

   Nicholas' morning exercise routine starts Monday-Saturday at 0400 when he wakes up, puts on his workout gear and has a quick smoothie at the Deck 9 Cafeteria for some energy.  He then heads towards the Marine Gym on Deck 8.  The group starts with a warm-up session and then it is off to the daily body-focused routine.
